Guide to a boozy day in Bangalore
After our visit in the north, we flew from Amritsar to Bangalore to start our adventure in the south. We didn't stop for long in Bangalore but we spent our time very wisely by exploring some of the many breweries the city has to offer. This blog post will share the breweries we visited, the best pub grub that accompanied our boozy day and an authentic Indian restaurant to kick-start your adventures with south Indian dishes.

Where to stay
Accommodation is a little more expensive in Bangalore, with the cheapest options a way away from everything. We stayed at Locul.Uptown and as we were only here for one night we didn't mind paying a little extra, although still very affordable! Its super clean and has nice chill out areas to relax and meet people. The owner is really helpful and gets everyone involved. He had great recommendations for our day and was also organising a trip to a 'dive' pub with the hostel which we're gutted we missed out on! We paid £5/night (still super cheap but we've seen cheaper) for a standard dorm room, however this was during rainy season so prices may differ during high season. There's a great breakfast included and free drinking water. There's lots of parks around to chill out, but you'll need to take a tuk-tuk, uber or metro to get to the breweries. Arbor Brewing Company
This was the first stop on our self-guided tour. We got the 100ml beer taster tray (~Rs.300) and Sam had the amazing 'Arbor-ger' (Rs.500). For a country that doesn't eat beef it was an amazing surprise to see this on the menu, and as you can tell by Sam's face, it didn't disappoint. The beers were delicious, some more for an acquired taste than others but you'd be mad not to try them all. Total Bill: ~Rs.800/£8.50
Communiti Brewery
This is one of the most popular breweries, with quirky decor and amazing food. Following with the western food theme, Jordan had the 'Farm House pizza' (Rs.260) and again it was such a treat to have home comforts, especially after travelling from the north where everything is so different to what we know. We got ourselves another tasting platter to share (trust us, ones enough between 2 - ~Rs. 500) and whilst they were all great, we thought Arbor's brews were more to our taste. Bangalore Brew Works
We rounded off our brewery tour at Bangalore Brew Works. This one is a little hidden in what seemed to be a business block of offices. Head through the main doors to the building and take the lift on your left up to the roof. Here we enjoyed panoramic views of Bangalore and our final tasting platter, this one was a smaller tray of 60ml tasters (Rs. 100). The burger and pizza had soaked up a lot of the booze so Jordan rounded off the tour with a G&T (Rs. 325+Rs.125) and Sam had a full pint of his favourite beer from the platter (Rs. 220). Unfortunately, we visited during rainy season and a huge storm blew in whilst we were there, meaning we didn't get to make use of the pool. If you're there in high season this would be a great place to relax poolside! They do Sunday Brunch offers at Rs.2,000 or poolside Rs.2,300 which includes unlimited food and drink 12pm-4pm, a proper treaty day! Total Bill: Rs.770/£8.35

We had a huge day of indulgence, but why stop there? We only had 24 hours and thought it'd be silly not to try out a local place after our day of western eats. This place came highly recommended by a local at our hostel. It was a dark curry house resonating more with the India we knew, which could only mean one thing... AMAZING food!
Jordan had the special, curry served in a coconut (very far from coconut curries at home) and Sam had the traditional clay pot biryani. You'd pay a fortune for these dishes back home, but here you get amazing food, for affordable prices... and more beer! Total Bill: Rs.1,000/£11 for 2 mains, 2 roti and 4 beers.
It'd been a while since booze was so readily available and we took full advantage of that! For this day of indulgence we'd budget £40 (including uber rides), an expensive day but a lot of fun and you can make up for the budget hit by eating in the really cheap amazing local restaurants for a few days after. You 100% won't be spending like this throughout your India travels, so a one day blow-out won't hurt the budget too much. Prepare yourself for full bellies and tipsy travels if you follow this guide!
