19TH NOVEMBER 2019

Guide to our favourite restaurants & bars in Pokhara

Pokhara is the chill out central in Nepal, a place you can really loose yourself in. It's a great place to meet like-minded travellers and is filled with the best places to hangout! There's tons of different cuisines here, so you'll definitely find some gems here. This post will share our favourite restaurants and bars in Pokhara.

The Juicery

The Juicery was our favourite place in Pokhara, we would spend hours here. The relaxed outdoor seating was accompanied by incredible flavourful plates of mostly vegetarian food which will please even the most stubborn of carnivores (Sam). The café opens early and 7:30 am and serves a mixture of fruit bowls, salads, breakfast and brunch staples, fresh pressed juices, great coffee and ever changing lunch meals (I had a great mushroom burger and shakshuka) until 7pm. Jordan would start everyday with going to the gym, heading to The Juicery and blogging in their garden area. You can see how many times we visited here from the amount of dishes we tried!

Little Windows

A great breakfast spot with great coffee! Sit out on the balcony and you'll catch a view of a snowy peak in the distance. Reasonably priced and really fresh, another great place for delicious veggie food.

OR2K

OR2K is a vegetarian restaurant based in both Pokhara and Kathmandu. The vast menu of Greek, Asian and local food along with bar and cocktail menu will keep you busy! The restaurant offers relaxed seating along with plugs, free WiFi and ability to pay on card. Perfect location for some blogging/ writing!

Moondance

Moondance is probably one of the most popular ‘expat’ restaurants in Pokhara. The extensive menu includes everything from Indian curries, Thai classics, pizza and pasta, steaks and bbq grill as well as specials and local food. We visited here with a lovely friend we met in India, it was the perfect place for a catch up over great food and a lively atmosphere!

Roadhouse Cafe

If you fancy a pizza in Pokhara, this is the place to go; we ate many useless pizzas in Pokhara finding Roadhouse to be by far the best. Along with an extensive pizza menu, Roadhouse serves soups, salads, sandwiches, steaks and grills, pasta as well as a weekly special. Happy hour is available from 5-7pm and brings the price of beers down lower than most of the restaurants in the southern lakeside.

Winners Bar

The bars overlooking the lakeside are a great place to catch the sun set. Located between the pier and ‘Disneyland’ these bars are the cheapest beer in Pokhara but won’t appear on google maps! Most of the bars offer various happy hour deals, shisha and simple food. We recommend Winners Bar purely because they had a pair of really cute puppies!

Rolling Stones Bar

We absolutely love a rock bar! Rolling Stones rock bar is great for live music with bands playing classic rock covers and their own music daily. It did turn a little weird when the live music stopped and started playing Justin Bieber... Not very in keeping with name.

Irish Pub

The Irish Pub is everything it says on the tin – food, beer, music and pool. This place gets pretty lively but has more of a pub vibe than a club vibe, so great for a few late night drinks!

Busy Bee

Busy Bee is definitely the most popular drinking spot for expats and is buzzing on Friday and Saturday nights out! No need to dress up here, it's a very relaxed place and great to meet like-minded trekkers, watch some sport and have a boogie!

The Treasure Lounge

This is a 'posher' club, popular with locals as a Saturday night to get dolled up! We ended up here during a night of bar hopping and we were definitely VERY underdressed! I don't think it's a very typical expat spot, and we were stared at a lot by locals surprised to see us dancing like idiots! We met so many people here and ran riot over the dance floor.

There's loads of places for delicious food and a good old fashioned knees up in Pokhara, making it the best place to meet travellers and have the best time! We had so much fun here and really lost ourselves and we're sure you will too. All of a sudden you'll be a week in and wander how you got there! Pokhara isn't just about eating and drinking, there's tons of activities too! Check out our post on the best activities in Pokhara.
