Comida Caseira
We visited here on our first night in Goa. It's a very modern restaurant serving up the best food. We had ‘Goa on a Plate’ which contained small traditional Goan dishes, and King fish curry and rice, also very traditional in Goa. The chefs (mother and daughter) came out and chatted with us after our meal, making our meal even more special. The food is incredible, and so are the staff. If you’re feeling homesick, this place will sort you out!
Indian Curry House
A place to suit the name, very traditional Indian dishes here, all at very reasonable prices. We had a prawn curry, king fish curry, rice, garlic naan, and paratha. Definitely worth a visit!
Tin Tin
Situated exactly opposite Indian curry house, this place is worth a trip if you fancy something other than Indian. Having said that, we stuck to Indian and had Prawn masala, Bindhi Masala (Okra), rice, and naan. I’m still thinking about how incredible the prawns were!! We visited here twice during our stay because it was so good.
Mango Tree
This place is probably the most popular hangout spot in Vagator during off-season, no matter what time of the day, there's always someone at the bar. We went here on our first night for a post dinner drink and met some incredible locals (Dinesh and Pawar)! They ordered us coconut fenni with limca (traditional drink in Goa) and “Indian pizza” which was popadoms with cheese, tomato, onion, coriander… So good! (also great, it’s right next door to Jungle so only a small stumble away). We ate here too and it was great, but VERY spicy, so be careful!!
Bean Me Up
If you’re not vegan, please don’t be put off by this souly plant-based restaurant. We’re not vegan and this place was incredible, and so flavoursome! We had chilli basil stir fry, and Burmese Khow Suey (coconut veggie curry with rice noodles).
This is just a taster of the amazing food Vagator has to offer! We visited during off-season when lots of restaurants and bars are closed. If you visit after Monsoon during high-season you'll have many more options to choose from, however these places are tried and tested by us and we can assure you, you will enjoy!
